Youth AI Learning Fund Canada empowers Canadian youth to become responsible AI users by developing the critical thinking, creativity, digital confidence, and ethical awareness needed to thrive in the age of artificial intelligence.

ABOUT THE FUND

A charitable platform for public-interest AI learning

Youth AI Learning Fund Canada is a charitable initiative launched by Sophie and Jen Zhou in partnership with Giving Oakville Foundation.

The Fund supports AI literacy, responsible AI use, youth-centered innovation, and equitable access to public-interest learning opportunities across Canada.

Rather than operating as a commercial training program, the Fund serves as a charitable platform to support community benefit.

We aim to support initiatives that encourage young people to:

Youth AI Learning Fund Canada is focused on public benefit, accessibility, and responsible AI literacy. The Fund does not provide preferential access, private coaching advantages, or selection influence for any student, school, training provider, or affiliated organization.

Any support provided through the Fund is intended to serve broad community benefit and is guided by fairness, transparency, and accountability.

Community leadership for responsible AI literacy

The Fund brings together education, community service, nonprofit governance, and technical AI guidance to support youth-centered public benefit initiatives across Canada.

Sophie

Founder, Sister Sophie

Sophie is the founder of Sister Sophie, an Ontario-based English learning and academic support organization. Through her work with students and families, Sophie has long been committed to helping young people build confidence, communication skills, and academic readiness.

As a founding initiator, Sophie hopes to support broader access to responsible AI literacy and help Canadian youth develop confidence and judgment in a rapidly changing technological world.

Jen Zhou

Finance and Accounting Professional | Community Leader

Jen Zhou is a finance and accounting professional and community leader based in Oakville, Ontario. She holds CGA and CPA designations and has worked in accounting since 2009.

Jen brings experience in financial stewardship, nonprofit governance, charitable fundraising, and community development to support responsible AI literacy and youth-centered public benefit initiatives.

VOLUNTEER TECHNICAL ADVISOR

Ji Yang

PhD Student, Vision and Learning Lab | Volunteer Technical Advisor

Ji Yang is a PhD student in the Vision and Learning Lab at the University of Alberta. He received both his BSc (Honors) and MSc degrees in Computing Science from the University of Alberta in 2017 and 2019, respectively.

His research lies at the intersection of 3D computer vision, machine learning, and human-centered AI, with a particular focus on 3D reconstruction, digital humans, human behavior understanding, and real-world vision applications.

He has served as a reviewer for leading conferences and journals in computer vision and machine learning, including CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, IEEE Transactions on Multimedia (TMM), and Pattern Recognition.

Youth AI Learning Fund Canada is established in partnership with Giving Oakville Foundation, a community-focused charitable foundation based in Oakville, Ontario.

Through this partnership, the Fund is supported by a charitable framework that emphasizes public benefit, accountability, transparency, and responsible community impact.
